Hotel made from concrete pipes
The ‘tubohotel‘ in Mexico offers rooms in recycled concrete pipes.
Designed by t3arc, and inspired by the desparkhotel, the work of Andreas Strauss in 2006, using recycled concrete pipes for hotel rooms, the tubohotel accommodates two people in a queen bed with space underneath for storage. Each tube is 2.44 m wide and 3.50 m long. Apparently no bathrooms in the tube rooms due to lack of space, the hotel offers bathhouses for the guests to use.
The design goal of the hotel was to build a fast, eco-friendly and affordable hotel while offering new and unique accommodation services to the town of Tepoztlán, Mexico.
‘With a projection of 20 rooms, we began building the first modules. Unlike the hotel of Andreas Strauss, we place the rooms (tubes) in three modules to harness the ground as much as possible. t3arc built the first modular set of three tube rooms, while the hotel completed the rest. Construction took place over a period of 3 months.’
